Holiday Gifts For Uninspired Cats

December 15, 2021

Have you finished your holiday shopping? Or are you still looking for the perfect gifts for your loved ones? Kitties definitely deserve something special! Of course, our feline pals are all unique individuals. Some are playful and frisky, some are clingy and affectionate, and some are just plain lazy. If your furball falls into that last category, read on! A Huntersville, NC vet lists some great gifts for Fluffy below.

Beds

This one probably isn’t much of a surprise. Fluffy certainly does love boxes! Add a pillow or blanket to one to make it even more comfortable for her.

Window Seats

We strongly recommend keeping Fluffy indoors, where she’s safe from things like weather, cars, and predators. However, your unmotivated pet will still enjoy watching birds and squirrels. This is actually a great way to provide your kitty with beneficial mental stimulation.

Plants

Not all kitties are sensitive to catnip. In fact, about a third are more or less ‘immune’ to its effects. If Fluffy does react to catnip, get her a little plant to nibble on. Cat grass, or oat grass, is also a good bet. Just stick with safe plants. Check the ASPCA site here to be sure.

Toys

Even lazy cats occasionally get the zoomies. Fluffy may tap out after a few halfhearted pounces, but even a little exercise will be good for her. Put a few playthings in your furball’s stocking.

DVDs

Watching television is a purrfect activity for a kitty that doesn’t have much get up and go. You can find shows, documentaries, and even whole channels made just for our feline buddies!

Food

Most lazy cats are very enthusiastic about food. Take care not to overfeed your feline pal! If Fluffy becomes obese, she’ll be at risk of developing many different health issues. That said, there’s no reason not to offer your furball a yummy holiday treat. Cooked, plain meat, fish, or chicken is a good option. Canned tuna is also fine.

Grooming Supplies

Fluffy is known for being very clean. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t use some help with her beauty regime. Older kitties and long haired furballs both need some assistance with this. Get a good brush, and get into the habit of grooming your furry friend.
