There’s a special day coming up for our feline friends. National Cat Day is October 29th! Of course, you don’t need a reason to spoil your cat. However, this is a pretty purrfect time to pay Fluffy some extra attention. A local Cornelius, NC vet offers some advice on celebrating in this article.
It’s probably safe to say that catnip mice will never go out of favor with our feline buddies. However, Fluffy can also enjoy catnip bubbles, or even a small catnip plant. You’ll also find all sorts of cute modern toys, such as wand toys, remote-controlled mice, or automated laser pointers. Of course, playing is always more fun with buddies. Take a few minutes to play with your cute pet!
Do you have kids? Have them get in on the fun by making Fluffy some homemade toys. You can make beds from scratch out of material and stuffing. Square, pillow-style pet beds are very easy to make. Homemade kitty toys will also be a hit. Look online for ideas and instructions. Want to go all-out? Have the little ones make their furry friend a box castle!
Treats are pretty much a go-to for any special pet holiday, and this one is no exception. If your kitty likes store-bought goodies, then you’ve got an easy way to bring on the purr. Other safe choices include plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry; deli meat; canned fish, chicken, or shrimp.
If there’s one thing that Fluffy (almost) always likes, it’s a new bed. As far as our feline pals are concerned, you just can’t have too many napping options! Your furry pal may also appreciate a window seat, scratching post, cat condo, or kitty exercise wheel. Of course, the gold standard here would be the cat tower. If you’re on a tight budget, look up DIY options. You may be able to repurpose an old bench or table, and turn it into a cute and functional piece of kitty furniture.
It’s easy to joke about how aloof cats are, but the truth is Fluffy gets very attached to her humans. Pay your furry little friend some extra attention, and really get that motor going.
